Welcome to another update for Magma. We’re always working behind the scenes to refine our product, add new tools, and improve the experience for you and your teams. Here’s what we have for you this time:

  • Dark mode: You requested it, and now it’s here… we’ve updated the Magma dashboard to be easier on the eyes.
  • Free brushes: All of our brushes, that were previously for Blaze subscribers only, are now unlocked for for all users for free.
  • New pricing: We’ve streamlined our pricing to make it easier for you to choose the right package for your collaborative needs.
  • Workflow improvements: We added alignment settings for the Move tool and arrangement options for layers in the layers panel;
  • New Classroom sessions. We’re excited to have artist and instructor, Jonathan Hardesty, join us in hosting Magma Classroom LIVE sessions.
  • Bug fixes for text tool, eraser and general performance & visual improvements

Dark Mode

The next time you log into Magma, you will notice that things look a little different. We’ve updated the Artdesk and Artspace dashboard to be in dark mode by default. For those who prefer the light mode, stay tuned for future updates where we update things and give you the option to switch between the two.

Free brushes

In June, we released a pack of different brushes for our Blaze subscribers. We’re now able to make those available to all accounts, including our free users. So, be sure to check out your brush list the next time you log into Magma and give them a try.

We have 6 categories of brushes at the moment:

  • Round
  • Block and line
  • Sketch and chalk
  • Textured
  • Foliage
  • and Other;

Updated Pricing

After unlocking free brushes, we then updated our pricing to clarify our offerings inside each of our 3 packages:

  • Spark: Free - enhanced with items requested by our community
  • Blaze: $9.99 per month - contains professional tools like unlimited version history and more
  • Fusion: $50 per month - helps large organizations collaborate with enterprise security features

You can see more about what’s included for each package on our Magma Pricing page.

Workflow improvements

As we add new tools, we also find ways to improve the others.

Move tool alignment

With the Move tool selected, you can now align the contents of your layers to the sides or midpoints of your canvas.

First select a layer or make a selection of your layer contents. Then switch to the move tool and you will find the options in the settings panel to:

  • align left
  • align center horizontally
  • align right
  • align top
  • align center vertically
  • align bottom

You can learn more in the Move Tool user manual.

Layer arrangement

We’ve added another way to reorder your layers and easily send your selected layer all the way to the back or bring it right to the front. Simply right-click or long-press on the layer and find the Arrange Layers option. Here you will find:

  • Bring to front
  • Bring forward
  • Send backward
  • Send to back

These have default shortcuts assigned to them which you can change in the Application Settings.

You can learn more in the Layer Panel user manual.

Notable fixes

We hunted down some bugs that were lurking within Text Tool and Eraser Tool, as well as added a couple of other performance and visual improvements:

  • Multiple text tool fixes
  • Improved performance of table with folders and drawings
  • Improved contrast and of modals against the rest of user interface
  • Fixed performance issues when creating new accounts and changing email
  • Fixed some parameters not saving for eraser tools
  • Fixed drawings moved to bin showing in recent drawings

Thank you

We’re committed to enhancing your experience with every update. Your feedback drives our improvements, so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts, ideas and suggestions with us!
