Overview
Since its founding in 1987, Magma’s flagship product has been the patented PCI Expansion System which provides the capability to add additional PCI slots to desktop computers, servers, PC notebooks, and Apple PowerBooks. As computer technology evolved, so has Magma, releasing innovative PCI-X, and now, PCI Express (PCI-E) compatible products.
Magma’s key markets include: audio/video and music production, test and measurement, federal and state government, and the defense industry. Within the last year Magma has increased its presence in telecommunications and IT infrastructure. This summer Magma will release a product that meets the requirements of both these sectors. Magma is pleased to be a part of an ever changing and challenging market. We continue to grow and plan to remain at the forefront of the computer hardware industry.
The president and CEO of Magma is Randy Jones. In April 2007 Randy Jones completed the acquisition of Magma from Mobility Electronics, and through Mr. Jones’ purchase of Magma, the company received certification as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business. For two years prior to the acquisition, Mr. Jones was the Sr. Vice President and General Manager of Mobility Electronics’ Connectivity Division, of which Magma was a component.
Mr. Jones graduated from The United States Military Academy at West Point in 1972. He also holds an M.S. in Engineering Sciences from the University of California at San Diego as well as an MBA in Finance/Marketing from the John Anderson School of Management at U.C.L.A.
