Randy Jones

Randy Jones, CEO

Randy Jones has more than 30 years of experience in a number of high technology markets.  As CEO of Magma, Jones handles general management, strategy, and business and corporate development to position the company for leadership in the industry.  Randy's goals for the company are to build and sustain Magma as a high technology leader and trusted resource for its customers, while fostering a positive and motivating work environment for his team.

 

Prior to taking the helm at Magma in 2007, Jones was senior vice president and general manager for the Connectivity Group at Mobility Electronics, where he was instrumental in the successful acquisitions of ThinkOuside (keyboard group), and operational management of the handheld hardware group and the expansion and docking group.

 

Previously Jones held significant positions including the role of Vice President of Services at Ingram Micro, where he strategically built and led a new services organization with revenues in excess of $100 million.

 

Randy Jones holds two Master’s Degrees: the first in Finance and Marketing from the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA and the second in Engineering Sciences (Bioengineering) from the Jacobs School of Engineering at UCSD.  He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Economics from the United States Military Academy. Jones is a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army/Reserves, having last served at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.


Doug Antone

Doug Antone, Member, Board of Advisors

Doug Antone has had a long and successful career in executive, sales and marketing positions primarily in the technology market. Most recently, Antone was the Senior Vice-President of Navigation and Telematics for Telecommunications Systems (TCS), a small cap public company based in Annapolis, Maryland. TCS bought Networks In Motion (NIM) in 2009, which Antone had led as President and CEO from pre-revenue stage to nearly $75 million in annual sales. Antone was also President and CEO for DispenseSource (later named Nexiant), a supply chain software company, and Ethentica, a fingerprint bio-metric start-up, both located in Orange County, CA. Before entering the venture backed start up world, Antone held a variety of key executive positions for large organizations. He was the President of Ingram Alliance, a division of Ingram Micro, which he founded, and led from inception to $3 billion annual revenue levels. Prior to Ingram Micro, Antone was SVP of WW Sales, Corporate Marketing, Customer service and Technical support for Borland International.Antone graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. in Business.


Tom Vadnais

Tom Vadnais, Member, Board of Advisors

Tom Vadnais began his career with IBM where he held multiple positions, including VP of Operations for the PC division, assistant to the CEO and to the Chairman of the Board.  Following his IBM career, he joined Tascor, Inc. as President and CEO.  Upon the sale of Tascor, he moved to Data Processing Resources Corporation (DPRC) as CEO.  In 2001, he joined Mediaplex as CEO and then joined ValueClick in 2001 when Mediaplex was acquired by ValueClick.  He retired from his CEO and Board positions at ValueClick in April, 2010.

 

Vadnais graduated with a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and holds an MBA from Golden Gate University. Vadnais is also a graduate of The University of Virginia Darden School of Business Executive Program and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.


Frank James

Frank M. James, Member, Board of Advisors

Frank James has over 40 years of experience in executive management and the investment industry, working at companies such as Merrill Lynch and Bear Stearns. After two years of active duty in the US Army, James worked 15 years as a broker and a branch manager for Merrill Lynch, where he later became regional manager in the Midwest. He moved to Oppenheimer & Co., a leading investment firm and financial services provider, in 1981 and managed several branch offices throughout his career including New York, Dallas, Houston, and San Francisco. In 2004, he joined Bear Stearns as Senior Managing Director of the Midwest, overseeing the Chicago, Cleveland, St. Louis, and Columbus offices. Later on, James moved to JP Morgan, where he served as the Executive Director of Private Client Services Midwest. He recently returned to Oppenheimer and opened the Austin, Texas office as managing director. James holds a business degree from the University of Iowa.

 

Tim Jeffries

Timothy S. Jeffries, Member, Board of Advisors

Tim Jeffries is the founder of P7 Enterprises located in Arizona and Colorado. P7 is an executive consulting firm providing strategic support services to growth companies in various industries. As a result of his P7 endeavors, Mr. Jeffries has led several global business optimization initiatives at IHS, Inc., the global leader in information and insight services based in Englewood, CO. In addition, Mr. Jeffries serves as the Chairman of ChemResearch Company, Inc., in Phoenix, AZ; Vice Chairman of Mission Technology Group, Inc. in San Diego, CA; and Independent Director of Merchants Information Solutions, Inc., in Phoenix, AZ. Prior to these pursuits, Mr. Jeffries served as an executive leader for several high technology companies in California, Colorado and Arizona.

 

Committed to serving others, Mr. Jeffries serves as the Past President of the National Organization of Victims Assistance (NOVA), President of the National Justice Project, and President of Arizona Voice for Crime Victims. He also serves on the boards of the Arizona Commerce Authority, Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Duke University Catholic Center, and Holy Family Hospital of Bethlehem Foundation. Mr. Jeffries served two terms as the Chairman of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona, and he is a former national trustee of Parents of Murdered Children (POMC).

 

Mr. Jeffries graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. He also graduated from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business with a Master of Business.


William Gang

William G. Gang, Member, Board of Advisors

William Gang recently retired from his position as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Information Systems Laboratories (ISL) in San Diego to start his own consulting firm.  As EVP/COO, Gang was responsible for the successful day-to-day operations of the company, to include quality of products and services as well as attainment of financial performance goals. He also acted as Deputy to the President and CEO, and remains on ISL’s Board of Directors.

 

Gang graduated from West Point with a B.S. in Engineering Science, he served on active duty for eight years. An Airborne Ranger, Gang served as combat engineer company commander during offensive operations in Viet Nam. Gang entered the Army Reserves, and became a manager at General Electric. While at GE, he was responsible for the federal licensing of 37 nuclear reactors. Gang also holds an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA (Summa Cum Laude) in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University.


Edgar Johnson

Edgar Johnson, Secretary, Board of Advisors

Edgar Johnson is a partner in the Irvine-based law firm of Voss & Johnson, with a general practice for the past 22 years, primarily  in business and civil litigation.  Prior to his practice of law in Orange County, he served in the US Army in airborne and infantry assignments, including commanding an airborne infantry company in combat in Vietnam.  After his retirement from the US Army as a Captain, he joined Dart industries in Los Angeles, where he worked  in finance and administration positions for consumer product and chemical groups, including positions after the  relocation of the business as Dart & Kraft to Northbrook, Illinois. He currently is an adjunct instructor at Coastline Community College in Costa Mesa, California, in their paralegal department.

 

Johnson has a BS in Military Engineering from West Point, a MS in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, and a JD from Western State University College of Law, Fullerton California.
